Traveling solo is a therapeutic activity when you badly need a break. It’s also a good time to immerse yourself in a new place, learn its culture, and take wonderful photos of your adventures.

Most places aren’t safe for solo travelers. It’s even more difficult to take photos of places where there’s a possibility of dropping your camera or having it stolen. Reality check: These are common issues we deal with when we travel, and the risk is higher when you’re traveling solo.

Singapore and Taipei are cities with low crime rates, safe for solo travelers. But even during my travel in both cities, I still find it difficult to shoot and ask a local to take my portraits. I have this constant fear of trusting a stranger with my camera.

Fortunately, Sony Alpha photographer Charmaine Yap of TriPeaksImagery hosted a talk providing tips on taking the best photos during your solo travel. She was using Sony’s newest a6400 and the photos she presented were breathtaking.

Yap knows the struggle of every solo traveler, and more importantly, she’s a photographer. Here’s what I learned….

Local filmmakers produce “Graphicity”, a stunning night-time time-lapse video of Singapore

A hyperlapse video produced by two Singaporean filmmakers shows stunning night-time scenes of Singapore’s heartlands and urban skyline.

Titled “Graphicity”, the nearly 3-minute clip has been featured on numerous websites such as Coconuts SingaporeIndulgd and Sploid since filmmakers Yeo Wee Han and Charmaine Yap posted it on the Facebook page of their photography and video business, TriPeaksImagery, on 25 May.

In an email response to questions from Yahoo Singapore, the two said they have received overwhelming favourable reactions from the public and their friends to the video, which uses the hyperlapse technique that combines timelapse and sweeping camera movements…

Called Graphicity - The First Night Hyperlapse film of Singapore, the video was shot using a hyper-lapse technique, which is like a time-lapse but with long camera movements.

If you think you've seen the real Singapore, wait till you check out this video showcasing the hyper-realistic Singapore.

For two and a half minutes, you'd be mesmerised as the video captures all the glorious shades, shapes and colours of Singapore, the highly urbanised city-state in a super-sharp from dusk-to-dawn manner.

And it all kind of looks like it's made out of Lego.

Called Graphicity - The First Night Hyperlapse film of Singapore, the video was shot using a hyper-lapse technique, which is like a time-lapse but with long camera movements.

It is by Tripeaksimagery, who are specialists in time-lapse photography.

Tripeaksimagery previously produced another piece about a year ago that was even shared by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on his Facebook page because it was also very amazeballs.
